Song Writing lessons at Hope Street Music

Tami Mulcahy is past president of the Board of Directors for the West Coast Songwriters Associations, one of the most highly respected non-profit music organizations in the United States.  WCS assists writers, performing artists, publishers and producers in their music careers.

As an active WCS member for over 25 years, Tami has lead numerous panels and seminars covering a breadth of music related topics.  She regularly serves as a judge at monthly song competitions for WCS.

Her style of teaching works to enhance strong song structure with lyrical depth and melodic development.

“Whether your pursuit is writing as a hobby or to dip your toes in a music career, I believe in the pursuit of pushing boundaries and building the creative self.”

A basic level of skill at playing guitar or piano is required. “I can mentor in most genres of music, but in rap I would be limited to lyrical development.”

Tami is also a performing and recording songwriter, recently completing her third cd.  She writes on an acoustic guitar in regular tuning and on a high strung guitar.  Her personal style would generally fall in the americana or folk pop genre.

“I began writing when I was 15 and I especially love mentoring young adults.  Song writing contributes to emotional maturity, ingenuity, actively observing the world, communication skills and confidence.”
