Artists, authors, photographers and videographers...   Years ago, I saw Anne Lamott "in concert" with Mary Chapin Carpenter.  It was a great show.  Such distinct yet complimentary flavors.  It made me think how we as artists of all kind can work together to put on great shows, helping each other to branch out and reach different audiences.   Contact me and we can put our heads together. Tami@TamiMulcahy.com

Comments from Writer's Week - High School Students...

Your message about writing how you feel and never doubting the validity of your own ideas was very powerful.  I can’t wait to check out some of your other music.

…because I feel that I truly learned not only how to express more emotion in lyrics, but also to just be freer in life and find inspiration in random corners of papers.

You really did inspire me to write more.  It helps me express myself in ways I never knew before.

Although I’ve admittedly never given much thought to songwriting before, your presentation makes me consider using music as an outlet for my feelings.

Thank you for your amazing presentation!  I found it particularly engaging to hear you sing.  Your voice is beautiful.  Your advice to write by hand on paper was really helpful for me to write poetry – it’s less restricting.

One thing stuck with me…that sometimes you just have to go where the wind (or in your case, lyrics) take you – because that’ll yield the best results.

Thank you for your inspiring “follow your dreams” words – kids so need it.

I like the idea about facing a blank paper and knowing that it will not be judgmental so I can write whatever I want.  I really appreciate your free approach to creativity and music.  Also, you have a beautiful voice.

I sincerely thank you for coming in to teach us the mechanics of songwriting.  I had never fully realized not only the process, but the effort that goes into writing.  Your song Lucky Forward gave me chills.

You were an inspiration. For the rest of the day on Monday, I was singing “Go Get Em Girl J

Your first song made me fight back tears.  It really made me see song writing in a new light.  I will keep your advice in mind and actually listen to song lyrics.
